yet i keep seeing FW1 or whatever, at peoples garages everywhere i go... those guys must have flooded all the servo's... yet i've never seen them.
although, i'm not totally convinced there aren't some ultra strong sealants available... 5 years might be pushing it, but i wouldn't be surprised if there was a product that did actually have quite long lasting sealant protection. I still think something with ridiculous amounts of fillers has it's place though, i mean, if you have no choice for water washes, and are semi-fussy about your car... why not cover up the swirls?? it's a band-aid fix, but it can help the appearance slightly. |

If you absolutely had to wash the car and water was scarce I still wouldn't touch these products. Just don't see the need.
I'd buy water off the shelf (bulk is cheap at Coles) and use PPBS as a prespray and then wash as usual I can wash the Golf with one fill of The Cube. To me, these types of products are for those in North American winters that can't be f'ed getting out in the cold weather and don't care about their vehicles paint. ie - "what are swirls" |

Gave in and washed the car today - with the Karcher.
Gotta say, as much as The Cube works OK, there aint nothing like a full on Karcher clean. So much easier, faster and more effective. Pre spray using the car shampoo applicator attachment for the Karcher, spray the wheels (my own cleaner), wait for 10 minutes, water blast clean the car and then usual wash with final rinse - virtually no water runoff from the driveway All done in 30 minutes (incl interior and trim) |

That was ridiculous. haha. As for Waterless washing, In Melbourne, Water restrictions are fair heavy, and i refuse to wash my car with the dirty Recycled water they have at the car wash so i began using Meguiar's Waterless Detailer. I tend to use the waterless detailer every 4-5 days that way only dust and light contaminants build up on the surface.. thus minimising pushing the dirt around the paint surface. I'v been doing this for one year now, and only the other day did i decide to cut and polish because very light swirling was apparent.. Keeping the panels sealed and waxed, and making sure the car doesn't get too filthy, i found the waterless product to be relatively safe to use on the paint and the car always has that "just waxed shine" to it.. Obviously washing your car the original way with suds and high pressure water is the ultimate way to clean your car with the least damage to the paint surface, but for me, Waterless washing has won me over compared to the dirty recycled car wash water... thought i'd give my opinion... |
