Default Swissvax Leather Elephant Fat comments

Just after some advice regarding tops of seat bolsters/ headrests that have become dry after prolonged sun exposure and lack of proper care. Will Swissvax Leather Elephant Fat make much of a difference bringing back some suppleness or is a dead cow a dead cow? Cheers.

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago, the rear of the rear headrests were like an orange peel/sandpaper/texture of my dash and the fronts were as smooth as butter, i have used elephant fat on them but it is to far gone. It just made it look greasy really, the product itself reminds me of a concentrate of Vaseline. After using this product i think it is a gimmick but happy to be proved wrong.

I'd suggest giving the leather a good clean with a decent cleaner and then a product like Zaino Z10 or FI feed. Once you have cleaned the leather hopefully the pores will open up and accept the conditioner.

After cleaning, apply the conditioner liberally. Leave overnight and see if it has been absorbed. If it has, repeat several times until the leather has been restored. If it is not absorbing, then the leather is too far gone.

As per Temper's email, if the leather is quite hard (ie dead cow) then it is most likely too late.

Qik Shifts got it, just lather it up and let it sit overnight, try using a hair dryer prior to open up the pores of the leather so it accepts it better, other than that maybe try a leather repairer, such as New Life, they may sand it back and re-dye the area. Keep us posted on your results

Generally, dead cow is, as you say, dead cow. Leather Treatment is about prevention, there is no cure for dry, especially cracked leather. They can be restored a little, but not too much.

Have you tried Feed?

Default Leatherique for Leather seats

Just some help that may come in handy i had the same thing with my seats i got this stuff called Leatherique its a oil that you rub into the seats then put your car in the sun to help the oil soak into the leather then after a few hours you use the cleaner on the seats which you can buy with the oil and i must say my seats came up a treat.

Cheers Ken
