The Bosch GEX150T comes with a Soft Sanding Backing Plate. It isn't ideal, but it's pretty good.

For polishing, the harder Backing Plates are better. Also, one with no dust extraction holes is better.
The Dust Extraction holes allow some heat from the motor to directly hit hte back of the pads, heating the adhesive that holds the velcro to the foam and causes/accelerates premature failure.

You could lop the edges off the std Backing Plate of the GEX150T with a lathe, but if you are getting the new FI pads, no need, we've tested them with the GEX and there is ample overhang for safety, we made the new pads with all the decent Forced Rotation units in mind.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Was so excited CAP was back in the online store
poised to hit order but (I hope I am not missing something here)
the new 150mm pads
150 mm Ultra fine
- Any Machine with a BP (Backing Plate) of no more than 125mm in diamater
150 mm Medium cut (md)
- Will not fit any Forced Rotation, Dual Action or Random Orbit machine, for professional use on Rotary machines only

Does this mean I am still waiting for pads to suit my GEX150T
or does the store need editing or????????

I assume for a noob medium (md) is preferrable

You see correct my friend

Pads for your GEX150T are still on their way, should be here in a few business days though (we did indicate a September 1st release for all this stuff, 90% of the Sep 1st stuff is already available, the rest is very very close).

I hope you can hold on as they are ripper pads

likewise, holding off on the GEX150T until I can get pads and CAP to suit....anyone know if Total Tools will discount? There's one on the shelf round the corner but it's $100 more than Sydney Tools!
