Default Which car? $45-60k

Greetings,

The time has come for two new cars in the family. One for mum and one for my sister. I'm after some recommendation based on the following criteria:

* No more than 2yrs old - Will be leased

* Small wagon/sportback style

* Automatic

* European

* Leather interior

* Good on fuel

What I have come up with is:

Subaru Libetry Wagon GT for the old girl - Not european but seems ok

A3 Sportback for my sister

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Is that 45-60k for both or each? If its each why not sign your sister up for the new Golf R? Everything the Audi has but faster and cheaper (and better looking IMHO). Ticks all the boxes and you can steal it off her for weekends!

Each mate, sister is probably limited to 50k but mum is allowed 60k. The old man doesn't want them to spend more than him

I've looked at the Golf R and they're nice bit of kit but she is isnt interested... I might just get one when lease is up on the polo

*cough* Lexus GS *cough*

Seriously, I would have said Golf too.

No more criteria? Does it need to be quick or is comfort etc. a priority?
Any Kids involved?

I was waiting for the GS haha

In terms of extra criteria

* Reasonable size boot but not commodore size
* More comfort than anything
* No kids at the moment for sister but possibly down the track
* Car will be leased for 4yrs

I've had a look at Mk6 GTIs again... wow I didn't realise they were that cheap. $45k gets you demo with leather, dsg bluetooth. Pretty much perfect spec but it isn't an Audi and thats what my sister wants! haha

If there are no kids and none for at least 2 years, don't be fussed about it. I just took my neice to the shops in a 3er, not nice at all, the roof is too low, but she is 2 and a little heavier now. Anyway, that's not an issue for you.

mkVI's are nice, but I think just a little pricey for the size. If you need practicality, $45K will get you a Commodore Wagon, MUCH more practical car. But if that's not fancy enough then yeah, mk6 I guess.
